In 2019, as we watched the country change under the Trump administration, it felt like we were witnessing a wave of divisiveness, hate, and harmful policies unfold in real time. Every news story brought another reminder that the rights we’d fought so hard for were being undermined. For us, as a queer couple, this moment felt deeply personal. We had spent our lives feeling like we didn’t quite fit into the narrative that was being pushed by those in power, and now, the stakes felt higher than ever. But we knew one thing for sure — we were not going back.
The Moment We Knew We Had to Act
Social justice has always been at the core of who we are. We’ve marched, we’ve spoken up, and we’ve stood in solidarity with others fighting for equality and change. But by 2019, as the country seemed to become more polarized, we knew we had to do more. It was no longer enough to just be angry or frustrated with the state of the world. We needed to create something lasting, something that could amplify the voices of others who, like us, were tired of the noise and ready to take a stand.
We wanted to do more than just speak up; we wanted to create a platform where others could do the same. That’s when we decided to launch our business. From the very beginning, we knew our goal was to create apparel that wasn’t just comfortable to wear but also carried a message — something that spoke out for change without even saying a word. It was a way to channel our frustration, our hope, and our passion into something tangible, something people could wear to make their voices heard.
The Power of a Simple Design
We started small — just a few designs, a lot of passion, and the belief that what we wear could be an act of resistance. We wanted to give people something they could wear proudly at rallies, family dinners, or even casual outings that made a statement about where they stood. From that very first t-shirt, we knew we were onto something bigger than just creating clothing.
The first time we realized the true impact of what we were doing was when we started receiving messages from people who had bought our shirts. We heard from individuals who wore them to rallies, from people who wore them to Thanksgiving dinners filled with political tension, and even from a grandmother who bought a Pride shirt to show love and solidarity to her recently out granddaughter. These stories touched us deeply. Our designs were becoming a part of people's lives in ways we never imagined — empowering them to feel seen, to speak out, and to spark important conversations about the future of our country.
Apparel as a Form of Resistance
We built this business on the belief that apparel can be so much more than just fabric. The designs we create are rooted in our shared desire for progress, for justice, and for a world where everyone’s voice matters. Whether it’s through a pride shirt, feminist tank top, or one of our election-inspired designs, we wanted to give people a way to express their beliefs and their resistance without even opening their mouths. Wearing your values on your sleeve — quite literally — can be a powerful act of defiance and solidarity.
For us, every shirt, every design, is a reminder that we are not going back. We refuse to return to a time where hate, discrimination, and inequality rule the day. Instead, we’re pushing forward, together, and we want our designs to remind people of that power. We see every shirt we make as a tool to spark conversations that lead to real change — whether it’s at a protest or around the dinner table. Our goal has always been to help people feel confident in their beliefs and give them the ability to wear those beliefs proudly for the world to see.
Why We Continue to Fight
The past few years have made one thing crystal clear: the fight for equality, justice, and progress is far from over. But we’re not backing down. Every design we create is inspired by that truth. Our election-inspired collection, in particular, was born out of our deep desire to stand up for democracy, for rights that are under attack, and for the belief that our voices still matter, now more than ever.
As we look ahead to future elections, we know that the stakes remain high. But we also know that we’re not alone. We’ve seen how our designs have empowered people across the U.S. and beyond, helping them stand up for what they believe in. We’re proud to be a part of this movement, and we’re committed to continuing the fight, one t-shirt at a time.
We are not going back. We are pushing forward. And we invite you to stand with us, to wear your beliefs proudly, and to use your voice — both at the polls and in everyday life — to demand a better future for all.
